English version : Wishing to promote the act of creation as a gesture of transmission of knowledge, André Laplante has developed a practice rich in reflection and experimentation. Looking at the development of the artist and the creative process itself, his aesthetic research is intuitive and highly introspective. Traits-Nature et soubresaut, consists of a body of work that explores and questions the relationship between man and forest. Constructed by multiple gestural back and forth, of stroke and withdrawal, of additions, subtractions, superimpositions, scratching and hiding, his compositions reveal a process of construction and deconstruction of images. The current production is generated mainly by rhythmic tracings of faded black pigment with a forest-like quality, and stems from the artist's deep-rooted preoccupation with the union with nature. Born in Montreal in 1964, he lives and works in Montreal and the Laurentians. With many years of artistic practice, André Laplante has produced several solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions, such as Foire Papier 14 and 15. His works can be found in various private collections. He has completed several artist residencies, notably at Atelier Silex. Traits-Nature et soubresaut, se compose d’un ensemble d’œuvres qui explore et questionne le rapport homme-forêt. Construites par de multiples allers-retours gestuels, de trait et de retrait, d’additions, de soustractions, de superpositions, de grattage et de cache, ses compositions révèlent un processus de construction et de déconstruction d’images. La production actuelle est générée principalement par des tracés rythmés de pigment noir délavé aux allures forestières, et issue de préoccupations d’union avec la nature, profondément ancrées chez l’artiste. Né à Montréal en 1964, il vit et travaille à Montréal et dans les Laurentides. Cumulant plusieurs années de pratique artistique, André Laplante a produit plusieurs expositions individuelles et participé à des expositions collectives, telles que Foire Papier 14 et 15. Ses œuvres figurent au sein de diverses collections privées.
