Materials: Acrylic and acrylic marker on pure, pre-stretched and primed linen Frame: no frame Finish: no varnish Signature and date: on the back This piece was inspired by a poem of the German artist Rebecca Horn, where she describes the long and painful way to a personal freedom beyond the shackles of a society's conventions. I used a highly pigmented yellow acrylic marker as the background and a highly pigmented purple and white acrylic paint for two energetic expressive brushstrokes. The canvas consists of a pre-stretched naturally coloured pure linen. The artwokr is sold ready to hang without a frame.

I am a Czech-born and now Germany based painter. In my works I explore the essence of what surrounds me: why do people act the way they do? What lies beneath the surface of what meets the eye? What are we driven by? To express what I sense beneath the surface I feel drawn to different materials and a range of colours, which I apply in different layers on my canvases and papers, using a variety of techniques including scratching, brushing and printing. This way expressive works are created, some reduced to basic expressions, others rich in colour and texture.
