I began by painting the fox in its archetypal stance, waiting to perhaps catch something. I then introduced the rabbit as a playful element of 'who is watching who?'. I like to bring animals together in an image, and reminds me of fairytales and folk tales where animals have to be part of the same story however reluctantly. Painted using Schmincke coloured inks on Khadi Indian rag paper, the red colours of the fox are very powerful in relation to the more gentle greys and ochres of the waiting rabbit.

I am an artist based in Gloucestershire, UK but originally from Perthshire, Scotland. I have been fortunate to exhibit in some prestigious institutions including Royal Academy, London, RWA, Bristol and RSA, Edinburgh. I trained in Fine Art Drawing and MFA Painting and have literally been drawing my whole life. My proudest achievement is having my ink drawing 'Ghoul School' in the permanent collection of Prints and Drawings at The British Museum. I was also delighted to receive 'Finest Drawing' award at the National Open Art Competition in 2013.
