ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"Facts & Fiction (Brushlines)" from the category "Concrete Art Experiments" stems from the wish for spontaneity and immediacy in the painting process - quite similar to the paintings of the Brushstrokes series. It is about the genuine act of painting. To give free rein to the line the brush draws. In some places patterns of parallel lines remain, resembling cloths or fabrics, in other places the pattern is abandoned, they break away from the order and create structure and space by over- and underlapping thus creating a composition. The name "Facts & Fiction" describes what we can see: the facts, the visible - hence the brushstrokes which are next to each other, which accompany each other or visibly overlap. As well as the fiction, claiming something, telling us stories, suggesting: "This is where this line disappears under another and then it reappears someplace else." At: you can find the short video "Becoming Facts & Fiction" which shows the creation of this painting in individual steps. more:

"For all its diversity, the program of my painting is a very personal one. Whether it is the sensual materiality of color or a photorealistic representation of my studio, the themes feed from the artistic search for the possibilities of the medium of painting and the motifs come from my life and work environment. My work revolves around the process of painting itself, the materials, the techniques and the meditative time spent alone with the painting. I paint my work material or the exhibition spaces, I explore the various possibilities of overlaying paint, recycle paint residues or work playfully with the simplest painterly gesture, the brush stroke itself. Each work begins with the pictorial idea. It dictates the painterly form of expression and there is in this sense no external theme and no overriding idea that must be met. The image idea and the energetic effect of its execution are the subject.“
