About The Artwork

As a life long lover of airplanes and just about anything that flies one of my favorite things to do is to paint classic aircraft and put them back in the sky where they belong. This is a Fairchild 25 which was a popular airplane back in the late '30s. Many movie stars like Jimmy Stewart owned and flew them. I love the simple lines of this plane and the struts and wheel pants complete it.

Larry Cansler is a native Texan. He studied music composition at North Texas University and enjoyed a long career in the Hollywood studios. Larry is an Emmy award nominated composer, arranger, conductor, musical director, and pianist. He has worked with artists like Michael Jackson and Kenny Rogers and his symphony, “Mojave”, was performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. Among his musical credits is composing the music for the hit classic “Wildfire” Another life long passion of his has been art and he started drawing at an early age. In the last few years he has turned this interest into a full time pursuit. He moved to southern Arizona in 2001 and started to study painting with artists like Randall Sexton, Ray Roberts, Gabor Svagrik, and Colley Whisson. He loves painting Southwest landscapes and cloudscapes as well as California and Hawaiian beach scenes. Artist Statement: Growing up on the flat prairies of Texas I became fascinated with clouds and their movements over the land. Years later in California I earned my pilot’s license and spent many hours flying gliders over the Mojave Desert to experience being even closer to the clouds. As a painter I try to capture that energy and motion. Living at the beach during my exciting, but hectic career in the Hollywood studios, the ocean provided a place of refuge and reflection. The inspiration for many of my Southwest cloudscapes and landscapes come from my home in the beautiful foothills of Tucson, Arizona.
