ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Original Oil painting on canvas, framed. "Fall of Helle II" By Helen Fox Canvas Size 41x51cm in a white wooden frame (frame size 43.5cm x 53.5cm). The second painting of this series, after several paintings with a classic theme, The Kiss (underwater of course) The Power of Three (a modern watery take on the three Graces) I wanted to explore some mythological angles. The story goes of Helle, twin of Phrixus, that while escaping from her evil stepmother (all the best stories have one!) she fell off a flying ram (incidentally had a golden fleece) into the sea but was rescued by Poseidon and turned into a sea-goddess. I'm sure I will revisit more Greek mythology in the future. Check out my Instagram too -
