Born in 1973 in Slutsk, BY Resides and works in Jerusalem, IL “The Doors Are Open. The Israeli artist Alexey Adonin turns painting into an enigma. He possesses the intuition to stage works where pale or intense light conceals even as it reveals a key embedded within a reality whose chromatic texture idealizes it. The sensory qualities of color are inseparable and osmotic, enveloping the form of these inscrutable landscapes as if they were the site of an oracle, within which a mystery unfolds, accessible to very few. I believe it was Adorno who asserted that the most fitting notion to grasp the essence of art from a cognitive perspective is that of an enigma. Indeed, in Adonin’s work, an enigma exists, and he does not shy away from this mission.” -Gregorio Vigil-Escalera- “The Sovereignty of Space. The forms and colors invite contemplation and meditation on the mystery of time and space—what Heidegger would call the mystery of Dasein. This being awaits the artist’s revelation, who records and displays it. The work of the Belarusian-born artist ADONIN reflects a quest for discovering the meaning of painting about humanity’s inner vision and its place in a cosmos that continues to envelop it in the enigma of its existence. The chromatic constellation, very subdued and restrained, lends value to shapes that seem like vestiges and evocations of a universe birthed outside of time, or that appropriates every moment of existence, constantly reborn in each instant and according to every dream.” -Gregorio Vigil-Escalera-
