VIEW IN MY ROOM
This piece is in the permanent collection of Swindon Museum and Art Gallery. "Greg Rook’s Fear and Possibility from 2011 has two men dealing with a suspicious looking large bundle, in a bleakly winter-bound suburban setting. There is a definite Blue Velvet quality to the atmosphere, that dark underbelly of suburbia (and are the two main figures similar to Blue Velvet‘s Frank and Jeffrey, or is my imagination running away with me?). That bag almost certainly has a dismembered body in it and the overall wintery air, indicated by the bare trees and the light, adds to the suspense and desolation. The painting itself is cleverly painted, mobility indicated by the positions of the bodies captured mid-turn, heads twisting to look at the house. The check shirt matches with the red brick of the house to confirm the normality of the suburban scene." https://artworkoftheweek.wordpress.com/tag/greg-rook/
