Mirna Hidalgo is a landscape painter from Argentina, who lives and works in Bruges, Belgium. She creates a a dream atmosphere, where the boundaries between reality and illusion start to blur. The colour palette is full of character and emotion. Her work is mostly inspired by nature and the landscapes of the Romanticism. Mirna is passionate about investigating the way we think and behave, what motives us and how we become wiser. She describes herself as a “woman of the Renaissance”, not because she would compare herself to the great masters of that time… but because she cannot -and does not want to!- settle for a single, mono-directional profession. In the Renaissance it was common to combine knowledge in several fields of study. Mirna is an artist, designer, dance teacher, lawyer with 20 years of corporate experience, leadership advisor, trainer and certified coach. Art is simply another way of reflecting and seeing the world through different perspectives. This is how she explains her sources of inspiration: “Thriving spirits are in constant search. I’ve always been fascinated by the marvellous capacity of the human brain. Painting is a thrilling experience for someone who was originally trained to use mainly the analytical mind. What I love the most about painting is the chance to set aside the rational thinker, connect to the “inner muse”, and let her take over. I’m always surprised to see the end result. It comes from within, from the same place that gives birth to feelings”.
