Yes, what is this again?, you will ask yourself. At first: it is very small itself, just ten bij ten cm! And it is...??? An opium field! An opium field in an old clock environment! How do you get the idea? No idea, just done ... made. Opium. Actually not a subject for me, I have nothing to do with drugs! Still, the photo lay on my desk for years, and in the end I painted it on ... ceramics (which I had made to measure) and then framed ... in an old bell case. (I swapped with a guest who had found it on the street, for a work of art I no longer even know what kind of work it was) So, a strange work, with (for me) a lot of blue / green in it. Yes, and what is the meaning for me? I sometimes say it more often: I would not know. It has something mistic, maybe that is why it appeals to me while I rarely have anything with "nature art". Yes, a strange piece of art! I painted a lot on ceramics but most pieces( lots of vases, plates, teapots etc) have been sold, they were more decorated than artpainted... a great differance that not anyone understood.(Why is that just 50 euro and is that 1000euro... Yes , mam!!!!! Yeah, try people to explain the differance between art and decoration!!!! This, and a cup and soocer, i will show you later, is one of the litllest pieces i had made... you can realy call it fine art!

Welcome to PaulsArtWorld on Saatchi, the vibrant world of Paul Harmsen, a versatile Dutch artist who paints, creates captivating videos, and designs unique artwear, gaywear, menswear. Born in Doetinchem, Netherlands, Paul's artistic journey took a transformative turn when he transitioned from a successful hairdressing career to pursue his passion at the Gerrit Rietveld art academy in Amsterdam. With a background in costume design for television and theater, Paul's artistic spirit was temporarily overshadowed. However, a bold decision to sell his house and business, along with a move to France, reignited his artistic flame. In 2018, Paul and his husband moved to Aix en Provence, and despite facing the challenges of the Covid era, Paul embraced new artistic endeavors. His relocation to Spain in 2002, marked the inception of "Paulsartworld," a pioneering fashion company specializing in menswear adorned with prints inspired by his eclectic artworks.
