Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Spray Paint on Canvas.

With “Fifty Candles on Blue” (Cinquante Bougies sur Bleu)
I present my 49th artwork in a dedicated series loosely based on the fortification designs of the 17/18C French Maréchal Vauban. This piece was created with multiple masked layers of spray paints on an acrylic painted double canvas… a diptych. The abstract subject is again angular and geometric, but whereas the idea may be interpreted as many guns or canons firing from three fortified walls of a citadel (à la Vauban)… my interpretation is of fifty candle flames on a layer cake in celebration of an important birthday or wedding anniversary. Whilst this one has a background of blue, the next diptych in the series is on a yellow ground.
