Finding Peace in a World of Chaos Painting

John Lindley energetically expresses his vision using vivid colours and bold mark making. Inspired by the artists De Kooning, Egon Schiele and Goya, John's paintings come alive on the wall and focus on the use of colour in abstract Impressionism. His travels in Italy, India and Africa have inspired his love of colour. He wants to evoke a reaction in the viewer, their personal interpretation of the painting creating their own narrative from the shapes they see. "On a personal note, I have renounced portrait painting, and the skilled depiction of perfection with its necessary intent to please the sitter. Better now to go where the colour and the mind takes one. If it appears that the production be the result of the mindless meanderings of a deranged mind, so be it. There are no rules so why create them."
