About The Artwork
Dedicated to the persecution of the Assyrian people. The mythological Lammassu creatures of ancient Assyria represent the years of the worst massacres against the indigenous people of Mesopotamia. The 1915 "Seyfo" massacre at the hands of the Ottomans, the 1933 Simele massacre in Iraq, and the current persecution of the Assyrians under ISIS. The work is varnished & the frame is painted black.
