The painting was painted in January 2019.

Florence was born to me easily, at ease, quickly. I wrote it before Christmas, when the mood was joyful, upbeat, I was all inspired then. Honestly, when I just started this picture, I didn’t think of the end result then, and didn’t know completely what would come out in the end of the picture. I only knew that I needed to convey an airy joyful state when the world, the city, the people themselves wake up, a new day wakes up, the sun rises and life goes on ... But I didn’t know exactly how to do it, through what objects, through what colors and to convey this tone, to embody ... When I applied the very first layer in the picture, just coarse big strokes with a wide brush, spreading them across the canvas, I suddenly suddenly saw in these soulless traces of paint the appearing outlines of something incomprehensible for now, but asking express me this give them form, breathe life into them, history ... And I finally saw THIS! They were houses, streets, back streets, bridges, and ... a river! So was born Florence city.

"I love the dreamy yet realistic aspect you bring out in your work. It’s like a modern day Van Gogh. Keep working at it! Your art is beautiful I would love to see it in a museum one day!" - perhaps it is with this quote that I will characterize my oeuvre as a whole, which a subscriber from Atlanta Georgia (USA) once wrote to me on Instagram, expressing a personal opinion about my art. I am a self-taught artist. I am 39 years old (born in 1981), Now I live, work in St. Petersburg (Russia). I took my very first steps in painting at the age of 9-10, when I lived in an orphanage. For the first time I took oil when I was 21 years old. I try to constantly connect the unconnected - two worlds for me, real, the one that surrounds me in everyday life and the world of my fantasies, dreams, desires. This requires a constant search in the expressive aspect. Perhaps that is why I deliberately do not dwell on a certain handwriting, genre, style, technique, which is very very often inherent in artists. If you may call it, then my painting is purely individual. * (My email: , as well as links to my social networks under the profile photo).
