This body of work is representative of the progress that happens through intense struggle. It shows how one feels after being deemed as garbage and worthless, and the progress of shedding this label and discovering self-worth. With the use of found, industrial materials in conjunction with bright colors at a large scale, value is given to things that are typically looked at as unimportant. The scale of the work is meant to feel familiar to the viewer, resembling objects that humans interact with on a daily basis. This familiarity is enhanced by the use of materials that are often discarded as trash that are enhanced with marks that resemble contained disorder. Blocks of bright colors accentuate the nature of the garbage and highlights their imperfections. This work is sad, lonely, and stressful. However, it is also cheerful, bright, and hard to ignore.
