As I painted this large piece, I thought about snow, walking through forests in the whiteness: the trees look like tall black sticks as you wander your way through dense growth. The shadows are cast, a blue hue on the white, and as you gaze to the skyline, a subtle green blue light, the northern lights shimmer down.
The bottom red panel proves a jolt of colour, but there is something reminiscent of a sea-scape at the very bottom, striking in its cobalt blue.

This is an exceptionally bold painting, its a dominator, and commands attention. The viewer will always find something unusual hidden in parts.

"What Sweeney has vividly evoked is its maker's desire to create a mark in public, to make something imperfect and thus unique. In this and many of these works, Sweeney's aesthetic is a raw one of the scrap yard, and at moments - the gutter" Jean Tormey, Curator, Tate Modern, London. Tracy Sweeney is an artist from Ireland. Her dynamic paintings have won major awards including the prestigious Pollock Krasner Award in New York. Sweeney's numerous international exhibitions have been met with much acclaim, particularly her exhibition "Station/Wall" in Grafiska Sallskapet Galleri, Stockholm; her work in the Paris Biennale 109 and a major group exhibition; "˜Grafiktriennalen', opened by King Carl Gustaf of Sweden in Stockholm, Sweden. Tracy Sweeney's paintings are held in major collections, galleries & museums throughout Ireland, Europe & the US. She is represented by Grafiska Sallskapet, & Galleri Ingela S, Stockholm, Sweden.
