Forgotten was chosen as a Finalist in the Wyndham Art Prize 2020 in Melbourne, Australia. The marks of age are explored in the construction and deconstruction of this paint textile. Through fading of colour and gradual unravelling I aim to liken this work to a memory, still tangible yet slipping away. This work continues my interest into the effects of migration with its tightly woven network that slowly loosens. Patterns of pale pink, blue and green are revealed under the white highlighting that way in which the memories one holds inevitably become less vibrant with time. The work is secured on a painted wooden panel. It is framed in a white painted timber box frame (see extra images). D rings and wire have been fitted for immediate hanging. On the front you will find my initials. On the back is my signature, title and year. This painting is registered with the NRAA (National Registry for Australian Artists). Details of this registration are provided as well as a Certificate of Authenticity. THE INTERWEAVE COLLECTION Highly unique paintings that emulate the stunning drape of textiles. This series combines my love of craft with my passion for painting. Warp and weft threads are cut from a variety of paintings that exist only to be deconstructed and then reconstructed as a new whole. Finished works are made entirely from paint with no other material present.

Artist Statement “When the paint is dry my work is just beginning”. The thought that paint could be capable of independence from the canvas has been the driving force behind Julee’s art practice. It led to her process of creating paintings on plastic waiting for the paint to dry before she removes it. The unsupported material has an inherent flexibility that allows Julee to investigate her interest in textile, collage, and sculptural techniques. Through cutting, layering, moulding, weaving, and gluing, each creation is the result of many hours of meticulous and detailed work. An artist since childhood, Julee holds a BFA (Sculpture and Painting) from Curtin University, Perth. She is also the author of the book Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing Ltd, USA). Her works can be found in collections, both public and private, worldwide.
