About The Artwork
This family portrait, of two foxes and an owl in my illustrative, anthropomorphic style, was painted in late 2015. It features a male fox in a dress shirt with rolled up sleeves, a botanical print waistcoat and soft brown tweed trousers, holding a black and brown speckled owl wearing a gold leafed crown on one side, and the hand of his wife on the other. The female fox wears a three quarter sleeve button down dress in black with a repeat print of swans on it. I wish this dress existed in the real world because I would wear it and only it. It moves beautifully in the image. A sense of movement is added to the background using a charcoal ink wash. The piece is unframed and will ship rolled in a tube.
