ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Ten minutes till sunset, and the blue sea at Foxton Beach was transformed to a fiery furnace. Didn't last long, but it was sure dramatic while it lasted. One of the more pacific uses of nuclear energy (not Pacific, 'cos it's the Tasman Sea).

Paul Lyons is a New Zealand artist working in watercolour.
He uses a variety of techniques to achieve the unusually rich, dark colours and textures that characterise many of his watercolours, and his paintings often include layers of collaged Japanese rice paper or gouache.
He has exhibited in various galleries, including the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts and his paintings hang in collections throughout New Zealand and in America and Britain.
The paintings are all watercolours executed with archival-quality materials (100% rag paper and paints with a lightfastness rating of A or AA).
