Framed Blue Maximalist Tulip Painting after David Hockney Painting

This original painting in delightful velvety matte ultramarine blue features a spring bouquet of vibrant rainbow colored tulip blossoms. The flowers bloom higgledy-piggledy from a narrow pedestal urn in coral red with navy, gold, and white details. The vase rests on a deep eggplant purple tablecloth patterned with greek busts in black and white. I painted this piece after a lovely spring visit to the Met in 2021. The flowers include an array of red, orange, yellow, white and purple tones, emerging strikingly against the lapis lazuli blue. The painting was executed in crayon, matte acrylic gouache, and acrylic. It is framed in a narrow pale pine frame with a satin varnish.
