Painting: Oil, Paint on Wood.
“Freddie Mercury” is an original painting. It is 24″×24″ Oil on Panel. It is part of a collection of work called, Picture Day: The Icons
Picture Day captures the most influential icons from the past and present in a child portrait series. Like an elementary school yearbook photo, this series features artists, actors, musicians and the most iconic people painted into vibrant modern child portraits, with an attitude…
Because every legend had a beginning...
Icons as the child they once were, innocent and totally unaware of what extraordinary life that lies ahead of them, reminds me of our similarities and reminds me that each of us holds the magic to paint the life we dream of.
Freddie's tattoo is of the Queen Crest which was designed by Freddie Mercury shortly before the release of their first album.
The logo features the zodiac signs of all four members: two lions for Leo (Deacon and Taylor), a crab for Cancer (May), and two fairies for Virgo (Mercury). The lions are embracing a stylised letter Q, the crab is resting atop the Q with flames rising directly above it, and the fairies are each sheltering below a lion. There is also a crown inside the Q and the whole logo is over-shadowed by an enormous phoenix.
The whole symbol bears a passing resemblance to the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom, particularly with the lion supporters. The original logo, as found on the reverse-side of the first album cover, was a simple line drawing but more intricate colour versions were used on later album covers.
24"x24"x1.5" Oil on Ampersand Panel. Sides of painting are also painted blue. Painting varnished to a rich finish. Signed and ready to hang with hanging wire/hardware. Comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Open edition and limited edition prints are also available. Black and white prints available.
