Fresh Laid Painting

I love painting eggs! There is something about the gradation of light and the feel of the texture that I find infinitely fascinating, like a world within a world. To me painting in a realistic style brings out the mystery in the everyday. Something that I can't find in looser painting, it doesn't satisfy me. And choosing familiar objects I sit and study then for as long as I want, to absorb all the subtleties that are there to be discovered. I am also fascinated by light and shadow, sunlight cast on objects. Calm and peace and stillness. I hope you see it too. I like using acrylic a lot because using thin layers to build up the form, I feel like I am sculpting the painting. With oil the paint is slicker and thin layers take forever to dry, which I find frustrating. Also with acrylic the painted surface has a matteness which I feel draws the viewer in more, than if it were shiny.
