ABOUT THE ARTWORK
A brilliant sunrise. A sea of fallen soldiers. I use miniature plastic army men as the backdrop for this piece. They are all laying down, intertwined within each other. The theme of this work is duality forming the whole. The piece gets its title from a Mary Oliver poem. I think when we focus on the pain, the war, and the suffering in the world things can seem desperate and overwhelming. But the sun will rise tomorrow. A baby will be born. Joy will still exist.
