This was originally a work on paper completed in 2020. I brought it to my studio in March and began to think about how work with it to completion. It seemed that hope and joy became more prevalent. I worked with cold wax and some pigment sticks to complete it. The title came from each way I turning the painting it took on a different emotion, from fierce to friendly. Hence the title. I hope that the viewer feels drawn in but the lush colors and the depth of the texture. I hope the viewer feels excited by the painting. The use of cold wax allows me to create a tactile texture which adds depth and interest to the work. The original painting was a response to the chaos of the pandemic and I now wanted to quiet it down so it can represent the beginning of healing.
