This painting is part of my indigo series. In these paintings I have used indigo because of its amazing capacity for variation in colour texture and tone as well as its long history in trade from classical times to the present day. This piecmediates the passage between memory and loss, playing ith the notion of the Thames as London's Lethe washing away the memories of people trade and place, at times collecting and at other depositing it's contents. In Fulham it is possible to stand on the river with the contemporary urban landscape behind you and the ancient marshes ahead. A poignant place the river flowing between time zones. This piece can be seen with other work at the Talented Art Fair at the Truman Brewery 17-19 March 2017. I am open to commision for works in indigo.
