This work was part of the process with the installation 'The Plunge' - that embodies the process of re-association. This image is based on the emotional interpretation of my body when I got covid, fever and quite dissociated - last February.

I consider myself to be a mixed-me-dia artist, mainly working with sculpture, painting and installation, occupying a studio-based practice in Rotterdam. My work reveals an absurdity that takes place in a luid reality; Bodily shapes, cubistic structures and many limbs are depicted in compositions that contain much tension and are ultimately a balance, trying to embrace their paradox. I am inviting you to consider your being space. You will catch me doing the same. I find inspiration in relating the body as an incentive to existential and metaphysical philosophy. My work questions what happens between the mental and the physical, observing how complex thought lourishes in an open-mind that keeps looking for questions. ‘Creating transcendent spaces to embrace more paradox’, is a description of the practice that I believe I am moving towards. My process regards my capacity to create emotionally engaged; more body and more chaos find place in my being. This is what I mean by embracing paradox. To consider art as ‘autonomous objects’ allocates their capacity to affect the viewer through their presence or aura. I also think that art intends to challengehow we perceive our being, offering us agency for (self-)transcendence. This is what I mean by creating a transcendent space. Words interpretation Transcendent space = a space that facilitates transcendence - inciting an open mind, emotional engagement and giving a prospection to a being that involves more complexity - which is perhaps seeing more self? Space = Time too so a time-space (acknowledged in their intertwinedness) , a context, visually implied by the object. Embrace = accepting, bringing into, internalising not out of fear but love - to intentionally include in a realm of being. Paradox = a statement that seems contradictory but contains an element of truth and is experienced as meaningfull.
