About The Artwork
Force, movement and deformation oscillate between dimensions. Christoph Robausch prefers the material aluminum in material thicknesses and degrees of softness that still allow him to process the material by hand. The dynamic transitions from the deformed surface to the spatial body and the disembodiment back to the three-dimensional surface result in unusual relief-like murals with organic structures. The torn, gaping color fields in the bare metal make the breaks and cracks between the dimensions more visible. Through further manual acts of compression and processing, the initially superficial color fields are set back deeper into the metal. This idiosyncratic way of working, developed over the years, awakens a mysterious, timeless presence in his work. The artwork can be leaned against or hung on the wall in any orientation. Signed on the front and back with the initials cR and also dated on the back. An invisible, inwardly offset wooden frame enables easy installation with an effective distance from the wall.
