Generación Z / Z-Generation Painting

"¨Z¨- G" (Generación "Z") is a play in which I show five teenagers spending their summer time together, deciding plans through the screens of their mobile devices. The image suggests a certain indolence on the part of some friends who have enough not to feel a raging worry about an uncertain future: although the neighborhood in which they meet is a modest, deteriorated neighborhood, they are far from feeling poor. The technological gadgets they can enjoy keep their consciences within the thinking of a reassuring "middle class." Despite some immediate cultural references, the portrait is timeless: anyone can recognize themselves at the same age, socializing, with other rites (with a bag of sunflower seeds, with bottles of beer, tobacco, sharing fruit like Murillo's boys... ). The composition of the painting is an inverted, subliminal question mark, which refers to the disturbing future of the protagonists. With some texture details (slightly fatigued) an attempt is made to create a lighting environment where the quality of the materials generates sensations of respectable deterioration and precariousness. It was selected for the II Villaescusa Painting National Contest.
