Girls just wonna have fun I Painting

"Girls just wanna have fun", 2019, oil on canvas, 100 x 150 cm Being contemporary woman, aged 40s. All the time compared ourselves and others in reality and in social media. Competition in being woman, wife, mother, painter. This painting is about all this feelings. I paint it for my 40th birthday. Am I experiencing middle age crises? Or am I "the new 20th"? I have 4 year old daughter, and still expect to be mother again.. Do girls really just wonna have fun? Or since decades they want all? And what are the consequences of it? Song singed in 1979, the year or my birth- the whole era of how women think and feel themselves had passed. I was very much impressed by the book „Wonder women”, written by Debora L. Spar. On the painting ideal beautiful woman (after plastic surgery) at my age is depicted with three Gracias of Rubens, and lots of space for viewers own reflections on changing standard of beauty, of our everyday race. Are we present on our holidays? Now in pandemia time this painting have even stronger meaning, cause most of us miss so much such idyllic moment and would love to trow away our phones which remind us of changing numbers, and show scary picture of the World.
