ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Made with layers of Japanese textiles, denim and quilt fabrics. The textiles are adhered to the wood panel and the whole material was then washed with gesso. Many layers of thin gesso, ink and gold leaf make up the image of the portrait. Elements of Japanese text, Kanji are still visible from the denim vintage shop apron used in the collage.

Pam Glew, born 1978, is a mixed media painter, known for her use of fabric, flags and bleached canvases. She exhibits internationally, with solo shows in London, Paris and Sydney and has exhibited at Dallas Contemporary and Honolulu Museum of Art. Pam has produced numerous commissions for fashion brands from Ralph Lauren to Armani, MTV and Microsoft. Her work is housed at Saatchi & Saatchi London, Mitsubishi Bank, and in collections worldwide. Pam is co-curator at Paxton+Glew Gallery, showing contemporary art in Brighton's Lanes.
