Gold Leaf Pear: Dancing in the Moonlight is a mixed media painting on a wood panel, containing a giclee´ print of my original acrylic art, combined with hand applied and manipulated gold metal leaf that has been stained and then sealed with a UV protectant. Inspired by the quiet, rich beauty and patina of the Byzantine art found throughout Europe in the churches and cathedrals, and with my life-long love of Gustav Klimpt, the art has a beautiful golden, time worn patina that looks brings both history and grace to this modern work. The contrasts of old and new, sensuous curves and cracked distressing, and the beauty of the metal leaf are all-absorbing for me. It reflects the beauty I find in the grace of age. It is presented in a clean black wood float frame. It is ready to hang, but has a wide enough profile to stand on a shelf or table top.
