I've been reading quite a large amount of esoteric literature recently. One organization mentioned and referenced profusely is The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. My interest is in the symbolism created by the group. I'm curious how the psyche associates notions of sacredness with specific shapes and if altering those shapes and symbols can still communicate an idea. Alcohol ink on yupo. Stacy Tompkins is an American artist, writer and designer residing in Florida. Her work has been exhibited worldwide including the U.S., China, the U.K. and France. The artist has been featured in publications such as Smokelong Quarterly, Descant, and Collection 28, a French publication. She is a recipient of the Liquitex Grant (2003) for her mural titled "Revolutionaries." Tompkins received her B.F.A. from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX.
