Akop(Hakob) Astvatsatryan was born in Yerevan, the capital of Soviet Armenia. As a child, he moved to Moscow. In elementary school he loved to draw, but this love didn’t develop. After graduating from high school, he entered the college and later became a student at Institute of Transport Engineers, but never got a chance to study there, because he was drafted into the army. He served for two years on the northern border of the USSR - Finland, and returned to different country - The Soviet Union collapsed. It was very tough time and very difficult to earn money in the new Russia, so there was no permanent job. He worked wherever he had opportunity. 1996 started working in the tourism industry. In 1999 he opened his own travel company and worked until 2015. «At 45, I realized that my life had a lack of sparkness and it was boring. I missed new opportunities. And then I set to myself three goals that do not characterize me at all: 1. Learn to drive a motorcycle (all my life I was an opponent of this) and get a driving license. 2. Learn to paint with oil on canvas. 3. Learn to play the piano and learn any Chopin piece. The first two goals have been achieved. For the first time I picked up a brush on October 25, 2015. I really liked it and I continue to paint to this day. I studied at the Perotti School of Painting in Moscow. I took several master classes from different artists, and I still continue to study by watching video lessons. In 2017, I participated in the Artoholics street art auction, where one of my works was sold. Before that, I already had experience in selling my works. My works are in private collections in France (Lyon and Noyon); Great Britain (London); Lebanon (Beirut); Ukraine (Kharkov); Russia (Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, etc.).
