About The Artwork
This painting is all about three different aspects of my personal life, in distinct moments of time: the legacy of crochet from my grandma, the Bialetti mocha coffee maker that was used to prepare the espresso shots, and the Bougainvillea. The crochet tablecloth was made by my grandmother Mama Pilita who was a crochet exquisite artisan. The old marble stone table is located next to an old green wall that has been deteriorated over time. The wall has moss and darker iron stains, meanwhile climbing plant roots have begun to appear over it. I bought this Bialetti Espresso Maker during my time as a graduate student in Europe, and I used it a lot to keep myself awake when studying at night. The espresso shots full of fresh coffee, ignite the colors of the Bougainvillea, one of the most beautiful flowers that I adore.
