Tamsin Relly (b. South Africa 1981) is a London based visual artist whose work includes painting, printing and drawing. After establishing her practice in South Africa, she moved to London and completed her Masters in Fine Art at City & Guilds of London Art School in 2011. She has exhibited widely in the United Kingdom and South Africa and her work is included in numerous private and corporate collections locally and abroad. Recent exhibitions include: Painter Printmakers at the Royal Academy of Arts; Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2012, 2013 and 2014; Publish/Curate at TJ Boulting in London; Honore at Gallery Rue Visconti, Paris; Time to Hit the Road at Leila Heller Gallery in New York and solo exhibition, Jungle Snow, at The Place Downstairs in London. Recent residencies include The Arctic Circle – a two week expedition by ship in the Svalbard region of the Arctic Circle and The Gerson Zevi Land Art Road Trip in the Southwest of the United States. Relly’s practice explores the effects of contemporary consumer-based lifestyles on the balance of the Earth’s ecosystem. Drawing from snapshots of day-to-day life, nature and images found in the media she works with the fluid and unpredictable qualities of her materials and processes, to present impressions of urban and natural environments in states of uncertainty or impermanence.
