Barbara Cadario is one of the more unique talents of her generation, having delighted viewers across the west coast of North America with her beautiful, poetic paintings. Her first solo show nearly sold out. An advocate of fine oil painting, Barbara has collaborated with the 21 Artists Group in California, has painted with California artist Peggy Fletcher and has been featured in Vancouver shows with Enda Bardell, Perry Haddock, Rose-Marie Kossowan, William Liao, Larry Tillyer, and Elizabeth Wiltzen. While studying under her mentor, Jim Armstrong of Santa Barbara, California, Barbara developed diverse skills in figurative, modern and landscape art. In California, Barbara also developed an appreciation for Art Journaling and the use of painting and mixed media as a means of personal expression. Awards include Fourth Prize in the highly competitive Painting on the Edge show, as well as well as Honourable Mention and exhibition in other shows of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Academic achievements include a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Emily Carr University of Art&Design, a Master of Science in pharmacology from the University of British Columbia (UBC), and a pharmacy degree from the University of Toronto. Barbara is a licensed pharmacist who currently is self-employed as an instructor at the University of British Columbia and writer for the official compendium of licensed drugs in Canada. Prior to these positions, Barbara worked in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences as a specialist in Drug Information and Drug Safety at the BC Drug and Poison Information Centre. During her spare time, Barbara studies piano and plays social tennis at the Jericho Tennis Club.
