About The Artwork

This is a protest piece. Guatemala has been badly affected by climate change- something the West's heavily industrialised countries have done very little to avert and is causing crops to fail in countries like Guatemala in South America and various countries in Africa, India and elsewhere. The result has been the immigration crisis. Yet once again rich countries are being cruel. The detaining of children is outrageous and these children should have been in hospital straight away. Yet theyuhave died at the end of a punishingly long journey as desperate people try to cross borders. These Guatemalan children aged seven and eight respectively are remembered here in the spirit of dignity and righteous outrage, while praying for their souls.
