This is possibly one of the hardest things to do, write about why I Paint. My work is influenced by primary colors and nature. Which I presume comes In part from My Native American (Choctaw) descent. My Imagery and feelings are inspired by them but also very much by my Yorkshire upbringing in a Mining Community, where as a kid I was surrounded by strong women, Notably my Grandmother who went to London to meet my Dads USAF General and argued that her white daughter would marry my Black father. After the Miners lost the 1984 strike, my cousin Susie and I looked on as Grandma, shouted to the miners walking back to work in solidarity looking so lost "Put your bloody heads up" They all did. My parents raised me as a Jehovah's Witness. My dad was a Navigator in the Korean War. I think the Bible helped him come to terms with the past. My Mother Died of Dementia in My Arms. My Dad also passed, with whom my memory is full of his thoughts, laughter, his life. My Brother died too young with things left unsaid. I have studied Art and also post-grad in Malta and Italy. My husband of 30 years works in Film so we have got to travel a lot. We lived in London in our 20s afterward in LA for 10 years. where I have worked as a MUP Artist and Stylist for TV films and commercials. I have owned an Art Gallery since 2013. In humanity in the end I see Resilience and Beauty. The hardest part is keeping my Paintings clean and simple, yet letting my feelings show. I get sad I get mad, and frustrated. I love Painting. In all, there are numerous stories and I want to acknowledge them. But most of all I want to show the human spirit of Strength and Resilience, even in Loss. Putting our Bloody heads up! Love and strength X someone wrote this below which do you prefer? After finishing her degree in Fine Art, Rebekah went on to work in London as a successful make-up artist and fashion stylist for numerous TV shows and Commercials. It was only after relocating to Los Angeles in 2003, that she renewed her love of painting. She went on to have several well-received shows in Los Angeles. Now residing in Atlanta, with her husband and two girls who give me the reason for the answer, she is continuing her work on large canvases. Rebekah’s work has been featured in Films.
