HOME TO THE GOLDEN SHORES I BELONG
triptych 2014
acrylic and oil on canvas
310 (w) x 120 (h) x 2 cm

3 LARGE-SIZED PAINTINGS
LARGE-SIZED TRIOLOGY AS TRIPTYCH

I share the opinion of the famous Norwegian painter Edvard Munch (1863-1944), that paintings contain not only a creative message as single piece. You can look at them also in a major conceptional context. This triology HOME TO THE GOLDEN SHORES I BELONG combines three essential of my works (2013/14) from aesthetic standpoints as well as with regard to contents.

Dream me home to the golden shores I belong... Life isn't always a bed of roses but a rollercoaster and a challenging journey. And days aren't always golden and sunny. There is a breaking point in every life and it happens sooner or later. You wake up and the world isn't the same anymore. A zero point in your head and heart. Black mountains to your back, and inner storms kill your last dreams and heroes. But you don't give up. Whatever will happen, you remember your childhood, the warmth of the fireplace and all the cozy feelings. Home is your mental shelter from the poisoned rain, the safehouse where your familiy leaves a light on. And if the world would end tomorrow morning, you don't care tonight. You face your melancholy and the tears. Home is where your heart is. Home is where the sea gulls cry, where the waves break at the golden coast and winds from the North whisper your name. Maybe you are lost in thoughts on open sea. But sirens and mermaids laugh and call your sinking ships back to the port. This not the time to give up. There's always a light to follow and to find your way through the winter night. Home is your guidepost. And you say: Dream me home to the golden shores I belong...

The triptych combines following 3 works and should "read" from left to right:

"SHOW ME A PLACE THAT LIVES UP TO ITS PROMISE"
acrylic and oil on canvas, 2014, 100 (w) x 120 (h) x 2 cm
left part of the triptych

"KRIEMHILD SEEKS REVENGE"
acrylic and oil on canvas, 2013, 100 (w) x 120 (h) x 2 cm
center part of the triptych

"FANCY AND FATE EARLY IN THE MORNING"
acrylic and oil on canvas, 2014, 100 (w) x 120 (h) x 2 cm
right part of the triptych

“How often have I lain beneath rain on a strange roof, thinking of home.”
- William Faulkner

All three paintings are parts of my painting series HOME that's dealing with the definition and the feeling of home. Home is a place inside us. Childhood, memory, nostalgia, yearning. A place for retreat and where our souls can find peace. Trust, creed, our harbour, an emotional safe house. At the same time home has also a historical dimension. This word and the feeling behind bore nations, and in the name of home people waged war and became killers.

This triptych is a true LARGE-SIZED TRIOLOGY. For a large-scale, aesthetic and colourful impression on your wall AND as my authentic and personal artwork with an artistic subsurface message. All of these paintings also for sale as single pieces here at Saatchi Art. This triptych offers a price advantage in comparision to the summarized single selling prices. For further information about the specific topic of each artwork and additional photos please visit the pages of the 3 single paintings at Saatchi Art.

I use exclusively oil and acrylic colors, canvas and solid wooden frames in a professional museum quality. The three paintings wear my signature on the front and they are signed, entitled and dated on the backside. Deliberately the sides/edges (about 2 cm wide) are not part of the paintings and show the black painted canvas (beautiful contrast). The paintings are ready to hang (on the backsides: high-quality iron plates with metal inserts and nylon rope for gallery use), unframed and don’t need a frame or any additional surface treatment. All paintings need a single hanging (no backside connections between the paintings). This trilogy contains 3 single paintings, each in acrylic and oil on canvas and with dimensions of 100 (w) x 120 (h) cm. I prefer a hanging distance each of 5 cm between the 3 single paintings. Complete dimensions of this artwork, including the hanging space between the single paintings: 310 (w) x 120 (h) x 2 cm.

The piece (3 paintings) will be safely shipped in a custom wooden crate. It will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a cover letter. Please note: In context pictures are not necessarily to scale and are for illustrative purposes only.

If you have any questions about this triptych or any other piece, feel free to contact me and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks so much for taking an interest in my work.

Warm wishes,
Christian

CHRISTIAN BAHR has been a passionate, profound German painter and experienced draftsman for over 35 years, selling his works worldwide. His works can currently be found in private collections and public spaces in the US, Mexico, Canada, UK, China, Thailand, Australia, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Malta, Sweden, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. His atmospheric large paintings are poetry and artistic struggle at the same time. They capture both harmony and conflict, overall reflecting a strong aesthetic. He has participated in many national and international exhibitions. What he believes in: ........................................................................... “Not everything is art. But art is everything and everything breathes art in one way or another. Art is the true beauty of mankind.” ........................................................................... “I work in my studio nearby the big German coastal city of Hamburg, on the North sea. I’m a seeker as a painter, in search of answers. The single human takes center stage. I work constantly, with great passion and discipline on my further artistic way. I have a clear, strong painting philosophy. And I deal with philosophical, mythological as well as with historical subjects in my works.” ........................................................................... “I go my own way in my paintings. I find the source for my inspiration in me. Spontaneous action is the key, my preferred method. I work intuitively and in most cases without previous sketches, because I do not need a creative distance, I only reduce the view of our surroundings. Added value and clarity through abstraction. It must be rough, original, melancholic, dark, and yet at the same time bright, poetic, clear and full of hope. No maybe, no lukewarm. Every moment counts. That's exactly how I paint." ........................................................................... “Painting is a beauty, soul and passion, but sometimes fighting. A fight with myself, an endless struggle for colors and motif in my own conversation, as a rough internal dialogue. There are these days and nights, when I fight for every single brushstroke, when I question every color scheme. But it is good it is not always easy. Because each artistic battle is worthwhile and shows that I am - as an artist - still alive, breathing and developing.“ ...........................................................................
