ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I am entranced by old world elegance as depicted in film, fiction, art. In this current climate of cynicism, I look to art for hope, guidance, escape. My chandeliers are about fairy tales, magical possibilities, and happy dreams coming true. The painting and the frame are one piece. The chandelier is painted on a12"x 12" stretched linen canvas. It sits on a 19"x 19" painted plywood, which acts as a frame. The two pieces are glued and screwed together, and very sturdy. It is ready to hang.

BIO: Jessie Krause was raised in Princeton. She studied Liberal and Fine Arts at Smith College and New York University. Upon graduation from NYU, she taught art in the NYC Public Schools, while also designing theater sets, murals, and music videos. She continued to develop as an artist at The Art Students League and on the streets of New York, making hundreds of paintings and drawings that became the basis for her nationally sold line of greeting cards. In 2007, she moved to Bucks County, where, for over a decade, she owned and operated Netherfield Gallery in New Hope and Frenchtown. From there her work was collected internationally. Her work is in the collections of musicians Brian Wilson and Carole King. For over a decade, she was the featured artist for The Gray Dog Restaurants in Manhattan. Her painting “Bedazzled” hangs in the administrative offices at MOMA, purchased by of one of the directors. She has three paintings commissioned by Princeton University’s Office of Student Life on permanent display in Nassau Hall. Currently, Jessie resides in Princeton and can be found at Princeton Makes, an artist co-op, where she has a studio.
