This piece was actually inspired by a recent day of reorganizing my art studio. I found it at a midway point in its creation and I decided to place it on my easel to look at it and made subconscious decisions about the piece while I reorganized. It just so happened I loved the color palette that was there prior to me placing the piece to the side months ago. Other than that, I had no preconceived notion of what I would add, subtract, or what it needed. So, I went from that point moving forward by picking up a brush after I made a small squeeze bottle of medium-flow gold paint and water mixture. I listened to some jazz music, specifically Chet Baker, and then I added some additional paints of the same color palette to the textured piece. In addition, I added the gold paint mixture in signature scribbles across the canvas. I also added one more color that wasn't there before, which was Winsor & Newton Galeria acrylic paint in Pale Olive. I allowed it to dry for a day and added mark-making with pastel oil sticks, charcoal, colored pencil, and a fixative spray to keep things from smudging. Thank I finished it off with two coats of gloss varnish. That was it for me. The only thing I didn't have a title for the painting. Oddly, while I gazed at the painting thoughts of the Harlem Renaissance and the poet, activist, and one of the faces of the Harlem Renaissance, Langston Hughes permeated my thoughts. I have no reason in particular. I will just go with the flow and let the viewers and collector decide how to interpret this piece. It will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. It is ready to hang and it is signed, titled, and dated on the back. Thank you for visiting my page. I hope you will return to look at other pieces. I look forward to you starting or adding my art to your art collection. Gina Battle Artist

I am an abstract expressionist artist. I paint from raw emotion and release every ounce of my spirit into my creative endeavors. I studied Theater Arts and Design in New York. Painting is a medium that came to me later in my life. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to express myself through abstraction. It's a delicious treat... sometimes decadent. I love the challenges that are presented as I contemplate new ideas, implement my thoughts and watch them become a reality. in addition, I love listening to guests who visit my studio and purchase my art. Thanks to my clients and collectors - both national and international I was able to fundraise for the Charlotte Arts & Humanities Council of Charlotte County (Florida). It was wonderful to be able to dance and paint for such a great cause and to celebrate the arts community through scholarships for students.
