"Harmless" Original mixed media painting by artist Richard Cutshall Mixed Media and oil on archival acid-free paper 22" x 15.5" Approximate size 2016 My process is driven by a need to explore the unconscious. Archetypal images seem to emerge to reveal the complexity of the human condition. This exploratory process allows me to excavate imagery from somewhere unseen and unknown. Artwork ships flat, unframed with protective covering. Artwork is created with archival materials on archival acid-free paper. Artwork is sprayed with a U.V. protective coating. Richard Cutshall works in the mediums of drawing/painting, printmaking, and sculpture. His vast exhibition record includes numerous group and solo shows, both nationally and internationally. His work is included in many private and public collections throughout the country. Some of Richard's earliest memories involve art and he vividly remembers drawing from an early age; using it as a way to understand the sometimes frightening aspects of the world around him. Today that use of art as a way of gaining understanding continues, with Cutshall describing his work as "a kind of self-exorcism."
