ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Every summer I back to this little Island in the middle of Atlantic. There is some special feeling that brings me always here. This island was found by Portuguese by chance after a storm and it is called “Saint Port” Porto Santo in a tribute for that miraculously day. In this painting, I seek to bring this sense of tranquility after the chaos. The sea water is gently embracing the land in a delicate symphony. Mystic colors of a new day emerge in the light of a sunrise. The fluidity of the ocean reflects not only the sky but also your inner you.

Cristina Perneta was born in Madeira, a little island in the North Atlantic Ocean, which means "wood" in Portuguese, because of the abundance of a native forest. She grew up very close to nature and these memories she has in her heart are what drives her to create her landscapes e figurative themes. Her inspiration comes from a soul connection with Nature and the Land. The creative process starts in the studio in preparing the inks by hand with earth and natural pigments, that she currently finds on his island and from around the world.
