Original contemporary acrylic painting, 48" x 36". Huppman feels that in this age of photoshopped, prepackaged, aggregated, optimized, microtargeted, algorithmed , contrived, engineered, maximized, neuromarketed, promoted, popped up, sped up, hyped up everything, art is one of the best ways to slow down one's brain.Huppman created this piece to be a respite, an escape for your eyes and your soul. She wants to help create a mental space for refuge, for breathing and for healing. This work was made using professional artists' grade materials and comes ready to hang with a certificate of authenticity.

My studio is on a temporary break for several weeks while it is being renovated. My art practice is inspired by the sublime and the subconscious. I aim to access those slightly opaque thoughts glimpsed only briefly just beyond the edge of awareness. I pursue those elusive visual ephemera that appear to me as if fleeting memories from a dream and then melt away in the light of day. Through the process of layering, and scraping and manipulating paint and media I become the conduit or transmuter of these thoughts, feelings and ideas that coalesce in their final state. I am in pursuit of a perceptive resonance in my work. I want to offer the viewer the frisson of recognition and an intimation of the sublime. I studied Art History at Princeton, as well as painting, under Michael David, Harvey Quaytman and Heidi Gluck but particularly under the tutelage of Sean Scully who was my thesis show advisor. I studied Critical Theory under David Shapiro, himself a student of Meyer Shapiro, and and while I thoroughly enjoy a good critical shredding, in the end, art is good if you, the viewer, like it.
