The inspiration for creating this series stems from my observation of a lotus pond. The rise and fall of the lotus all year round makes me feel the irreversible cycle of everything in the world. I represent the nodes of time with the solar terms of the old Chinese calendar, namely, the solar terms, the valley rain, the awn seed, the white dew, and the beginning of winter, to show the lotus from prosperity to decline. There are both regret and helplessness. This is the fourth of the four paintings - Lidong. This group of paintings was painted on linen with acrylic paint, which was started in 2011 and finally completed in 2022, with an interval of 10 years.
