ABOUT THE ARTWORK

My works are spiritual in nature with a strong influence of Buddhism, Hindu mythology and Shamanism. The works have a meditative quality to them, evoking a sense of tranquility and inner strength; a symbolic representation of the five elementals of earth water, fire, air and ether. My love for art is an old one. This is all I wanted to do from early childhood – to draw and to paint. This became a burning desire after I did Vipassna and practiced higher forms of meditation. My paintings are divinely channeled: “The Urge to paint is so strong … it is as if an inner force is drawing me to the canvas to commute and communicate through me, to create its own fine grained powerful instrument for human expression.” This painting has been a part of my private collection. I have recently been guided to sell it. I hope that whoever buys it feels a sense of peace, tranquility and communion with earth when they look at this.

“The Urge to paint is so strong … it is as if an inner force is drawing me to the canvas to commute and communicate through me, to create its own fine grained powerful instrument for human expression.” I paint under the pseudonym of Bindu. My immediate family addresses me by that name and so it has emotional significance for me. More than that, it has a wealth of spiritual significance for me. In Sanskrit, Bindu means Point or Dot, and its metaphysical connotation is that of the cosmic seed. It is the source point of all creation leading to unity and infinity. It is also described as "the sacred symbol of the cosmos in its un-manifested state". Bindu is the point around which the Sri Yantra and other mandalas are created. In a heightened state of spiritual experience, the Bindu is actually experienced as a blue pearl in the third eye area as a result of meditation, prayer, and mantras. The experience of the Bindu was an actual, internally experienced reality for me when I went for the ten-day Vipassna meditation retreat. After this the urge to paint was so strong within me that as soon as I got back home, I dug out a box of 6 basic oil colours, some old brushes and other materials and started to paint. I was internally guided to sign all my paintings as Bindu. At the same time, I was drawn to Buddhism and its life changing philosophy. My works are mostly spiritual in nature with a strong influence of Buddhism and Hindu mythology. The works have a meditative quality to them evoking a sense of tranquility and inner strength. I am a self-taught artist whose works evoke life in a medley of emotions and philosophy. My love for art is an old one. This is all I wanted to do from early childhood – to draw and to paint. Today I just want to express something deep within me through canvas and paint and I hope it resonates with all of you. I believe that every person should have at least one piece of art that speaks to them, resonates with their soul and uplifts their soul. To that end I help people source paintings through my network of art consultants and galleries. It could be the work of an upcoming artist or a master. It all depends on the buyer’s desire. There are some people who love both. There are some who love either. There are some who love neither. To them I say: A world without beauty Is a world of cruelty. Go out there and get yourself a painting.
