Getting carried away on a hope and a prayer. ‘Helium Angel’ is a painting inflated by joy and sadness. The cloudscape appears to be somewhat overbearing, a representation of nature’s raw power and its dominance over our trivialities. However, the background is also one of majesty and beauty and provides a wonderful playground for a playful mind and a setting for the imagination to circumnavigate grief The piece also explores reasons for faith and for an instinct to clutch at straws. The angel balloon is not a representation of a fervent belief, but of a simple hope. A hope that can easily be deflated or fall prey to a curious seagull.

Norway
I am a Scottish artist now settled in Norway. Since my graduation from Edinburgh College of Art in 1999, I have exhibited far and wide. My work is rich in narratives, often satirical and even perhaps a wee bit bizarre. These elements are all rooted in a highly detailed and solid draughtmanship.
