In this project, I combine the sense of traditions drawn from opposite meanings: the terrible and respectable world of the Hellenes and the cheerful, reassuring Balkan beliefs. Here you will meet creatures with hooves tapping among the serpentine vegetation that surround them, hairy faces rustling with soft fur, mysterious Kukeri whispering silky in the dark, and figures with sharp, hard-standing claws on the ground. Items of a magical nature can be seen. However, these are not inaccessible beings, stiff figures from ancient times, hidden behind a stone veil of time, but playful monsters, prone to direct confrontation with the viewer. Does presenting them in the context of a temporal location that they are not used to really make them harmless, or is it quite the opposite? My intensified painter's palette is largely responsible for the intensity of the presence of a herd of weirdos. The intriguing fact that I choose colors from our immediate surroundings for creatures in every distant dimension. The colors I borrow from fir and spruce fill the surroundings of monstrous figures that shine with warm honey, ripe tomatoes and dove blue, nonchalantly filling freely outlined contours. The dense painting matter swirls on top, unfinished, allowing this extraordinary collection of representations to be constituted in its own way. Leaving the images somewhat half-way in a deliberately unfinished phase gives monstrous bodies the possibility of free formation and transformation when we take them out of our sight for a moment.
