ABOUT THE ARTWORK
As a midwife the reproductive body holds fasination for me. The seductive nature of latex and the stain that the ink causes on the surface speaks of how woman's bodies are used as vessels of commodification. The flower motif has long be used to signify fertility and fecundity and used in this context is seen as a symbol of the 'wild' mother or wise crone that assists all women when they tap into their instinctive feminine powers.
