About The Artwork

Snakes are beautiful creatures. And this common garter snake does no one any harm. Here he is just peeking out from under a big plank of wood, his hiding place. I like painting him in dry-brush watercolor for it matches his world. It's a tedious process but brings out the most of what's depicted. The debris comes into sharp focus. The snake's dark-bright design and somewhat muted colors come into sharp relief using the dry-brush cross hatching technique.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Born in 1948, I started drawing at age 5. I had a No. 2 pencil and a pad of ordinary writing paper. I’d draw the Japanese Elms in our front yard, my dad’s car out front and the corn field across the street. Grass, sidewalk and street etc. The piano keys inside...This was in Lafayette, Indiana where I still live with my wife of 50 years. Our first daughter (1969) lives in Lafayette, while our second daughter (1972) will move back soon.
